I started this blog because so many of my clients had questions about their skin. I found that I spent a lot of time answering the same questions, so I started writing my answers down and posting them here. Some of my most popular posts are in my Just The FAQs series, which answer the questions I hear the most. I am passionate about beauty from the inside out. Your skin and your appearance are affected not just by what you apply topically, but also by diet, stress levels, and even how you feel about yourself. I want to help you take care of yourself, to feel better about how you look, and to live a happier, healthier life.
I am a licensed esthetician and fully certified skin care nerd. I have loved skin care products and beauty rituals since I was very young. I had a nail polish stand when most of the kids on my street were selling lemonade. My prices were very budget friendly back then.
My interest in skin care peaked when I was in college, and I struggled with acne. In my frustration, I started researching products and ingredients in order to solve my problem. The more I learned, the more I wanted to learn. I read every book in my library. I quit my office job to attend the Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics to get my license, and my hobby turned into a career.
I am originally from Atlanta, GA. I attended the University of Georgia in Athens where I earned a Bachelor of the Arts in French language and a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance. I am a loud and proud Georgia Bulldawg. I spend Saturdays in the fall watching college football.
Aside from my passion for good skin, I am also a passionate food and wine lover. I love to cook quick, healthy meals that are good for your soul and your skin. I pair my meals with big red wines packed with good-for-your-skin antioxidants. I also love photography. I love documenting life in New York City. I shoot with a Nikon D5100 and my iPhone.
I believe that anyone can have beautiful, glowing skin. Your routine can be quick and simple. I will help you decode the marketing to get the routine that works for you. I sometimes make product recommendations to highlight things I’ve tried and loved, but ultimately, my goal is to make you a savvy skin care shopper.
I love to connect with other beauty junkies, skin care nerds, and regular people who have questions about their skin. You don’t have to be obsessed with skin care to join the Facebook page or follow me on Twitter. You can reach me on email at shannon[at]practicalskintuition[dot]com.
I truly love what I do. I can’t imagine doing anything else. Thanks for giving me a reason to keep doing it. I hope we connect soon!
